Book Review: The Penguin Atlas of African History

By Colin McEvedy

This is a great book illustrating Africa throughout the ages... It is very helpful in understanding ones heritage and what went on in the past and to try to make sense of it all. It has a map on each second page and text to describe what the map illustrates. some of its concepts are hard to grasp but the big picture is clear enough to understand the basic History of Africa from ancient time to the Scramble for Africa and the Modern Times.

It is a good read and can Help one wanting to go deeper into a specific time knowledge for e.g. if you read about the Bantu and their travels eastward we just get the picture of where they were and where they went, but if you would like to know more you could research on the web about what kind of people the Bantu were and how they went about their daily business, their lifestyle, and their culture. In short it is a very useful reference book which if used with research can give someone a better picture of what went on in the Continent.
